Mike Cherry

Mike Cherry has had the privilege of being part of the Department of Genetics for three decades. Fifteen years ago, his family relocated to campus. During his career, he transitioned from laboratory research to the development of databases aimed at sharing valuable biological data. His lab's focus revolves around constructing meticulously curated, publicly accessible databases that enhance the capabilities of communities of scientists and educators by providing integrated data. In addition to his work in the field of genetics, Mike recently joined the SCRL Emergency Response Team, where he contributes by providing training in effective communication during times of crisis. Beyond his professional endeavors, he has dedicated numerous years to serving on advisory boards for various scientific initiatives with a strong emphasis on community outreach and service. Throughout the years, Mike has found immense fulfillment in volunteering for Open Space projects and at The Tech Museum in San Jose. These experiences have allowed him to connect with his community and give back in meaningful ways.
