SCRL Board Member

Barbara Sih Klausner

My spouse (Michael, Law School) and I moved here in 1997 and raised our three grown children on Salvatierra Street. We also lived for a year on Allardice Way. Our children attended Nixon, JLS, Castilleja and Gunn. I was a part-time teacher and Site Council member at Nixon. I also served as a PAUSD math specialist and then as an elected school board member. For five years, I was the executive director of a nonprofit after-school peer tutoring program that paired Stanford undergrad and PAUSD high school student volunteers with PAUSD middle school students from low-income households. I have a law degree and a master’s degree in elementary education. I enjoy working for civic-minded nonprofits, and joined the board of the Palo Alto Community Fund in 2023. My hope is to add value to the SCRL board by supporting ongoing initiatives and increasing positive community interactions through enhanced modes of communication among members.

I am an avid tennis player and enthusiastic dog owner. When my first two grandchildren were born around the pandemic, I moved temporarily to LA and spent thousands of hours caring for them. The experience refreshed my awareness of the needs of not just my generation but also those of young families.
