Dan Edelstein

I’m a professor in the department of French and Italian, with courtesy appointements in History and Political Science. I currently direct Stanford Introductory Studies, the unit that oversees first-year courses for all undergraduates. I mostly work on the history of political thought, and so have both a professional and personal interest in how communities come together. My wife Zoë and I have lived on campus since 2006, and both of our daughters, Anaïs and Eloise, were born here. We lived at Peter Coutts for eight years, spent two years in a dorm as resident fellows, and now live on Valdez Pl.
